H2air signs the charter AMORCE-FEE
Through his president Roy Mahfouz, H2air group has just signed, last may 16th, the new « charter of local authorities and professionals in favour of a development of agreed and territorial wind energy projects », which was approved on november 2022 by associations AMORCE and France Energie Eolienne (FEE).
This charter is in line with the current government’s will, as a law regarding the acceleration of production of renewable energies was enacted on march 10th 2023. It is therefore dedicated to boost development of wind energy projects in rural territories and strengthen dialogue between local authorities and wind power developers.
In concrete terms, both parties are committed to working together on each stage of a wind energy project (pre-figuration, development, operation, reinforcement of local economic development), with several duties to be fulfilled in every phase. This may bring to mind the Ten Commandments. Here, there are 22 for wind power developers and 11 for local authorities, which seems pretty logical « because wind energy developers in general are still often blamed for bad practices, for not involving enough all relevant stakeholders » explains Julien Reydel, head of wind energy development in H2air. « I don’t claim H2air is the most virtuous in the world but this signature will not particularly change our life because dialogue, openness and territoriality are already part of our DNA. By the way, we have ongoing discussions for years with mayors thanks to AMORCE network. » H2air officialy joined this network on febuary 2022.
Applying to the mayor before a site survey, proposing a working method to involve all local authorities during the development stage, keeping involving them after the wind far is commissionned… This is, in general terms, the roadmap of this charter. « We could say it allows us to keep a stiff upper lip. This is kind of like ISO certifications, that require for companies to take exams every year. It also sets in stone our constant commitment with elected officials and territories, summarizes Julien Reydel. Compared to the previous text of 2015, this new release also focuses on sharing values in every way, like crowdfunding, equity investment, etc. We are very attached to this topic. »
